Cozumel, also known as the “Island of Swallows”, is located in the Caribbean Sea, about 50 km from Cancun, and is the largest inhabited island in Mexico. During the height of the Mayan culture’s power, it was an important religious center dedicated to Ixchel, the mother goddess, and was a compulsory place of pilgrimage for all Mayan women who wanted to give birth and have a fertile life. The island has become a national and international tourist destination and is visited by cruise ships from all around the world, full of tourist who wish to discover its beautiful white sand beaches, and above all, to discover the Cozumel Reef National Park, which is home to part of the Great Western Atlantic Reef Belt, an ideal place for water activities.

How to get there
Cozumel is located in the Mexican Caribbean, in the south east of Mexico, approximately 50 km from the city of Cancun. The island can be reached by sea, taking the ferry from the terminal in Playa del Carmen. Departures are approximately every hour. It is also possible to arrive at the Cozumel International Airport.
